When you receive your badge, the back of the badge will have a paper backing. If you are ready to glue the badge to the garment you take the paper backing off and place the badge on the spot where you want it to be.
I always put a piece of cotton over the embroidery as it is made of Rayon and you don't want to flatten it or scorch it with your iron. Set your iron on wool or silk (A little hotter won't damage it but be careful and start with a lower temperature first. You can always go hotter but too hot and you might damage your embroidery or your badge!
Iron the badge covered with the cotton layer a couple of times and when it starts to stick and you are sure it will stay where you want it turn the garment inside out and push the iron onto the area with the badge until the badge is firmly fixed. I always use the edge of the iron to get in areas that are a bit thinner than others so they to get glued onto the garment.
My badges come with a double layer of glue netting so it should pretty much stay were you put it but you can always reinforce it with a couple of stitches around the edge!
